We certainly have failed attempting to make this recipe! So, what is Dalgona? It comes from the Korean word Dalgoona (달구나) meaning "it’s sweet." In Korea, Dalgona is a Korean sponge candy.A delectable sweet caramel light crunchy cookie, which Koreans young and old enjoy.
What is a Dalgona 'whipped' matcha?
Just go onto tik-tok and search #matchawhippedchallenge and you'll find out! Dalgona whipped matchas have quickly become popular after Dalgona whipped coffees. A recipe from SouthEast Asia having equal parts instant coffee powder and sugar adding hot water, milk then using a whisk (preferably electric) until it becomes wonderfully creamy. A Dalgona 'whipped' matcha is the same only substitute matcha powder for the instant coffee! (This is way better btw!!).
How long does it take to make a Dalgona whipped matcha?
Patience is key. You need to whip the matcha for up to ten minutes! If you use an electric whisk, the time will be reduced and it is much more likely your whipped matcha will come out to the perfect whipped creaminess.
How can you customize a Dalgona latte?
However you want of course! How we chose to is by adding fresh mango by pureeing one in a food process. Other options are to add:
- a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
- lavender or rose oil
- or other citrus like lemon or an orange peal
